Top destinations in India to visit this spring

Spring is here and so is the majestic greenery and beauty of nature. Spring bring colour to the world, it makes us poetic and give us a chance to appreciate nature. But we can enjoy this change in nature much more if we decide to pack our bags and take a trip. Thanks to the string of public holidays in March, taking some time off of our routine to enjoy the spirit of spring seems doable task. Read on as we provide you details of some of the fascinating destinations which could be the good getaway this spring.

1.Ooty

Ooty is the South India’s one of the favorite hill station and rightly so, thanks to the beautiful flower gardens and tea states. In spring these gardens and the hills covered with tea plants come alive to provide you some of the brightest greenery on hills.

                                                                                                                    

You could visit Botanical gardens and Government rose garden (the largest rose garden in India) to see the variety of flowers and nature’s spectacular beauty. One must also take a trek in some of the private held tea estates. Owners of tea estates are more than eager to show you their estate and to demonstrate the tea making process. It’s an altogether different experience.

2.Uttarakhand Spring Bird Festival

Uttarakhand is covered with Himalayan mountain ranges and some of the densest forests in India and that’s the reason that Uttarakhand is home to many bird species. Uttarakhand spring bird festival is organized every year and this year the festival is from 9-11th March 2018. Being the weekend, that is the perfect time to enjoy some forest exploration and bird watching.

The main site for the 5th Uttarakhand Spring Bird Festival will be Thano where guided birdwatching, heritage walks, photography workshops, film shows, activities for children, cultural performances and lots more will be conducted. At Jhilmil Jheel, guided birdwatching will be conducted. 

                                                                                             

3.Gulmarg and Sonmarg

Known for being the heartland of winter sports in India, Gulmarg offers visitors with all kinds of winter sports ranging from skiing and tobogganing to snowboarding and heli-skiing. Destinations such as Gulmargand Sonmarg offer a pleasant temperature and unlike in the summer, there is also the chance of snowfall.

You could also visit Tulip Garden which is Asia’s biggest tulip garden. With over 70 varieties of flowers, and several colours of tulips, this place is truly the abode of god.

4.Bhitarkanika National Park

The Bhitarkanika national park is such a divine and untouched national park that one can visit it all through the year. But the highlight of this reserve is the annual Olive Ridley hatching event which takes place at the Gahirmatha Beach during the month of April. It is considered as the most important Olive Ridley hatching site in the world and one must see it to have a view of its scale and of course it is one of those offbeat things to do.

                                                               

 5.Bir, Himachal Pradesh

Located at the foothills of the Himalayas in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, the Greater Bir area comprises of Billing, Chowgan, and Ghornala. Known for eco-tourism and meditation retreats, Bir is one of the ideal places to visit during Spring in India. You could enjoy hiking trails and paragliding at Billing. There are tea estates and Tibetan monasteries also to add up in your itinerary. The nearest airport is in Dharamshala, from where one can take a bus or taxi. The nearest railway station is Pathankot, from where one can reach Bir through bus/taxi/toy train.

                                                                                                                                                

6.Thekkady, Kerala

Thekkady is most famous for its lush fields at the Periyar National Park. And the month of March is recommended because the mango plants are in full bloom here and the greenery is at its peak. 

Not to forget, but this is the best time to spot rare species of animals, from tigers to sloth bears, within the deep forests. 

One could also visit the majestic waterfalls of Chellar Kovil and the coffee plantations of Murikkady which is just 5 Km drive from Thekkady.
